Portland area cheese advice
This is mostly for the those of you who live in (or are familiar with) the Portland area…
I’m going on a cheese crawl in the none too distant future here in Portland. I’m looking for recommendations on good cheese departments and good cheesemongers and/or fromagieres. Currently on the list:
Pastaworks on SE Hawthorne
Curds & Whey in Sellwood
New Seasons (exact location TBD)
I’m fully confident of Pastaworks and Curds & Whey. The New Seasons nearest Rancho Lake (SE 20th & SE Division) has a good cheese case, but does not usually have a strong staff behind the counter, which suggests to me that there’s a regional or city-wide cheese buyer at one of the other New Seasons stores. So if you happen to know which New Seasons store(s) the cheeseheads hang out at, I’d love to hear it. Also, other cheese selections of which I might be unaware would be favorite.
There will, of course, be cheese blogging.
