    Speaking of Orion, there is a very good Poul Anderson novel called Orion Shall Rise featuring this crazy science project. Only right wingers can keep a straight face, but this goes well with the armies of robots they so lust for.

    My favorite water-redistribution event of the geologic past is this one: the waterfall at Gibraltar. If I had a time machine, that’s where I’d go sightseeing.
