    A) Jay, the Confidence Man isn’t that long. lol If it’s not to your taste, why keep plowing? Life’s too short. If a book fails to work for me I chuck it over my shoulder and grab another, on the theory that reading time will run out long before superb books will.

    B) Isn’t it weird how “flayed” sounds so harsh while the same word, with the same meaning, in French, écorché, sounds all elegant and refined?

    Serial killers have a lot to learn about terminology, methinks.
