I don't know if you've seen it yet, but Smart Bitches, Trashy books just gave a shout-out to Green.

That gives me guidance, thanks!
I figure, if the goal is to make someone go out and buy the book, then a bit of plot is good... But to so many readers Plot is God and the only reason to read (obviously, I'm not in that pack)...
Btw, you can blame a Charles de Lint review on "Green" from F&SF mag for my interest in your novels...

I'm with you, frankly. Plot point recounts are useful to a small degree, but I'm a lot more interested in what a book *does*.

While reading reviews of your books thru links posted here, I've noticed a common trend: the reviewers recount a lot of the plot, even go so far as mentioning whether it's a "page turner" or not, but rarely pick up (or if they do, they don't mention it) on any possible parallels to our modern society and/or culture.
Is this the type of review an author prefers nowadays? I know I'm getting up there in years, but an old fashioned book report did more than that... I could recount the blurbie on bn.com or amazon as easily as these reviewers do! (hah! I just reviewed the reviews! :) )
I ask, since I'll be writing reviews soon on my own blog and would like to do it fairly well... My writing will be rusty, I warn you!
