July 14th, 2010 at 5:13 amRailway ferries were in service on the English Channel until the early 1990s, when the Channel tunnel made them obsolete. They didn’t look like the one in the Shorpy photo, though, but basically like normal vehicle Ro-Ro ferries, only with trains rather than cars in their guts.
As for that Terry Savage person (the name is certainly appropriate), what sort of jerk do you have to be to get upset at kids giving away homemade lemonade for free. If she (?) really felt bad about taking the lemonade for free, she should have given the kids fifty cents or a dollar or whatever the going rate for homemade lemonade is. It’s what I would have done. But then, paying for free lemonade probably probably is “not knowing the value of a dollar” to that Savage person.
