    Yes, I’ve read Eugene Sue’s THE WANDERING JEW. Most of it while flying standby on a long flight across the country and spending lots of hours between planes stuck in various terminals.

    That was nearly forty years ago, so I don’t remember much.

    A few years after that I tried to teach myself French with a French-language copy of Sue’s MYSTERIES OF PARIS and a French-English dictionary. I think I got about five pages done before getting distracted.
