    On one hand, of course, I see people like the linked-to Robert Fitzpatrick as idiots, blissfully traipsing their way down a rabbit-hole that goes nowhere. (Even if you believe in a literal judgment day, it makes no sense to fritter away your lifesavings because of it.)

    On the other… I rather see people like him as victims… victims of the the Harold Campings of the world. And so in that vein I wonder: when May 22nd comes and passes without the world having ended the day before, will folks like Camping be prosecuted for fraud? Will his victims be compensated for the financial losses incurred when they blindly followed him into his silly little abyss?
