[repost|food] Open dinner in Baltimore, MD
I will be in Baltimore, MD after Worldcon, for a second opinion cancer consultation at Johns Hopkins Friday, September 7th. I am declaring an Open Dinner in Baltimore the evening of Tuesday, September 4th — the day after Labor Day. We’ll meet at 7 pm at Ryan’s Daughter, an Irish pub on East Belvedere Avenue in north Baltimore.
This will be my last open dinner before at least May of next year.
Please let me know if you think you’ll be there.

Hi Jay,
You don’t know me, but since Ryan’s Daughter is almost literally on my doorstep, I’m going to say yes to the open dinner. Let me know if you need anything while you’re in Baltimore.
Yay! I look forward to seeing you. And thank you for the offer.
A family emergency took me to Northern Ontario for the week. I hope you have a wonderful dinner and everything goes well at Hopkins. The bsfs clubhouse is pretty awesome so I’m glad you’ll get a chance to stop in.
Sorry to miss you!
Jay, if you have any interest in getting a tour of the Space Telescope Science Institute (on the Johns Hopkins campus) while you’re there, let me know. I know enough people there I could likely get it arranged.
Oh, that would be so awesome. I’ll be free after about 2:30 on Friday the 7th of September, or could be otherwise available Thursday or Saturday with a bit of juggling.
Let me contact a few folks and see if we can get something set up 3ish Friday afternoon. I’ll move things to email…there’s not a lot to see, but I think you’ll enjoy what there is to see and just being in the halls there and soaking it up.
Thank you!
Hey Jay,
if you’re free on Saturday, the Baltimore Science Fiction Society is having its business meeting that evening at 8:30. We’ve got our own building in east Baltimore at 3310 E. Baltimore Street. If you can, we’d love to have you come in and hang out with us, after business we always hang out and discuss writing/what we’ve been reading lately.

It’s unlikely I’ll be out and about that late, as I have a 6 am flight at BWI on Sunday, for which I have to be up around 3 am, but I really appreciate the invitation.
Best,
Jay
Jay,
I understand.
Good luck at Hopkins. And let us know next time you come back to the DC/Baltimore area; you can chill with us anytime, but with enough advanced noticed, we’d love to have you do a talk and/or reading.

I was talking with Michael Walsh last night and mentioned our exchange about the BSFS meeting. I told him I would be happy to show up early, 30 or 60 minutes prior to the meeting opened, but that I just couldn’t stay late die to my morning travel schedule. He asked me if I’d mentioned that to you…
So, if that would be interest, I can come by at 7:30 or 8:00 and read, give a talk or just shoot the breeze, if people are able to come earlier.
Best,
Jay
Jay,
We’ll likely be milling around then. Feel free to come in and talk some sci-fi when you can, I’ll try and keep an eye out for you so I can introduce you to people. I think a couple of BSFS people will be showing up to the open dinner, they can give you the heads up beforehand.

Alright, I’ll look for info at the open dinner. I’ll email you directly thereafter to confirm.
Unfortunately, something has come up, and it looks like I can’t make it Saturday after all, even in the early time slot. My apologies, sir.
