[cancer] Another CEA update
Yesterday I got the results of an updated CEA test from the bloodwork taken this past Tuesday. I’m up another 0.5 ng/mL, which would not ordinarily be good news.
Here’s the recent trend history.
8/13/2012 – 3.5
11/8/2012 – 4.6
11/20/2012 – 5.1
My oncologist’s comment is:
“I have seen this before when the tumor marker number is going up, but the scan looks improved. It may be that the cancer cells dying is elevating the level in the blood stream. We will just have to continue to monitor the scans.”
Based on the CT outcomes, I’m not alarmed by this. You might, however, imagine that I am somewhat disappointed.
