[conventions] FenCon, Day 0

Yesterday was a fine day. I got a lot done on the flight on both Tourbillon and the Green CEM. reudaly met me at the airport, took me out for Texas BBQ with some of the ConCom, then deposited me in my palatial suite in time for a nap. Some more CEM, a light dinner, then a three-hour evening writing workshop session. (We were the very first function of FenCon 5.)

Got to bed at 11 pm, woke up at 5, walked 90 minutes, showered, wrote for two hours, and am now about to get ready to go downstairs for the two-hour morning workshop session. There’s a GoH lunch at El Fenix, a third workshop session this afternoon, then the usual Con stuff this evening.

See some, all or none of you here.

[conventions] FenCon aten’t ded yet — the name game

My friends at FenCon have a weird problem, and I’m trying to help them pass the word. Apparently a new convention came to their hometown of Dallas this year with a confusingly similar name, FedCon, took everybody’s money, then folded after the first day of their scheduled weekend.

As a result, FenCon has been taking some heat. They’re working diligently to let the fannish community and the general public know that they are in no wise affiliated with FedCon, and have no responsibility for any of the issues that FedCon has now created.

Disclaimer/advertisement: I’m workshop special guest this year, so if you’re in the Dallas area and want to do some intense critique with me, sign up for one of the few slots still open.
