Opening Ceremonies Friday 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Pine

The Chairman of BayCon 2005 welcomes you to another fabulous BayCon and
introduces our Guests of Honor.

Flash Fiction Friday 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Redwood (moderator)

It’s short, but it’s still good. Come listen to some writers of flash
fiction read some short shorts. Time permitting, they will also discuss
their works.

Meet the Guests Friday 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Pine/Fir/Oak

A reception to meet this year’s fabulous BayCon Guests. All BayCon members
are invited to attend.

Saturday, May 28th

Editing an Anthology Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Carmel

Editors talk about what they’ve learned while editing anthologies. Learn
how to get into anthologies and what editors are really looking for.

Remembrance of MonkeyCons Past Saturday 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cedar (moderator)

Toastmaster Chris Garcia, Guests of Honor Frank Wu and Jay Lake, and
cultural commentator and sf/horror writer Nick Mamatas gather to talk
about the history of MonkeyCon, the convention that always meets next
year. Hear thrilling descriptions of the 1896 MonkeyCon in Paducah, KY,
when the Airship Scares came to life! Marvel at the 1937 MonkeyCon in
Paris, where bail had to be made for over three hundred fen! Be amazed at
the 1997 MonkeyCon at McMurdo Base, when Connie Willis had to be thawed
out with blow torches! Garcia, Wu, Lake and Mamatas will take questions
from the audience, though be warned, they might give them back with empty
gas tanks and a few dents on the fenders.

First Novels Saturday 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monterey

Writers who’ve recently sold or published their first novel discuss their
experiences. Learn what really happens if an editor wants to buy your
book and you sent your book to the editor so long ago that neither your
phone nor your mail are still being forwarded….

Come listen to two talented writers, including our Writer Guest of Honor,
read from their works.

A Shot Rang Out Sunday 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Cedar

…and ricocheted down the hallway. Come see hilarious, impromptu
storytelling. Back by popular demand.

Monday, May 30th

Writer in a Window Monday 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Carmel

Come watch a writer write a short piece. Offer suggestions, including
helpful and zany ones, to help him work. See the writing process in
action with our Writer Guest of Honor.

Collaboration Monday 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Cedar

How do writers collaborate with each other? How do writers and artists
collaborate together? Panelists discuss trying to get a whole that is
greater than the sum of the parts.

Closing Ceremonies Monday 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Pine
