Can Democrats and Republicans work together after the election? — That’s a remarkable fatuous question. (The article isn’t much less fatuous than the headline, with such gems of moronic “fair and balancing” as in a new development this election cycle, the conservative Tea Party movement wants to throw out both parties, but its agenda aligns it with Republicans in the heated campaigning.) During the Bush years when the Republicans were in the majority, they proved conclusively they had no interest in working with the Democrats except as occasional political stalking horses. During the Obama years as a minority, the Republicans have proved conclusively they have no interest in working with the Democrats in that capacity, either. What is there about the 2010 election that could possibly change a long-term political strategy the GOP is so deeply invested in?
