  1. It occurs to me: if Newt Gingrich is to be the Republican man to run against Obama, I will not do it. I do not believe so much that Obama must go, that I can vote for Gingrich and not feel like a hypocrite. Part of what drove me away from the Democrats — whom I supported in my impressionable 20s — was the Clinton infidelity, and the way the Democrats lined up to excuse and dismiss Clinton’s wife-cheating. I will not excuse and dismiss Newt’s, whether he is truly reformed or not. Our President represents us to the world. I want someone with good character in that role. Newt is not the man. I would sooner do what I did in 2008: write in Mitt Romney for P and Condi Rice for VP. Now, I am going back to sleep….
