[travel|photos] New Zealand travelog recap – Driving from Wellington to Rotorua
by
On August 9th, we drove from Wellington to Rotorua. Along the way we passed through Bulls, NZ, as well as the vicinity of Mt. Doom, and the mud pool at Waiotapu.
The Flickr set.
Next, Rotorua and the geothermal sites. I probably won’t post that until next week, when I am back from Worldcon.

Ah yes – you drove along the glorious Desert Road. Why oh why did the numbskulls put the power pylons on the mountain view side of the road? They must have been inordinately fond of the metal Brunhildes (They look to me like a line of matrons carrying pails of milk) to have ruined the view that way. Sheesh.
Almost but not quite ruining the view… you have some great photos there.
I asked exactly that same question about the power lines when we were passing through that stretch. For such a tourism oriented economy, it seemed a profoundly goofy thing to do.
